Writing:

Intro.
The guitar is one of the most common instruments that people play. A guitar is what I always see people play at school and outside of school. Do you know how guitars make sound?

Parts on a guitar.
A guitar has six strings. It goes low to high. There on the guitar is a head, tuning keys, soundhole, pick guard, saddle, and bridge. All those parts on the guitar are really helpful. On the head of the guitar is the tuning keys, it helps you to tune the guitar the way you want it to be. The soundhole is what makes the sound louder when you play it. Last of all the bridge. The bridge is what holds the strings tightly so you can play well.

How is sound created from a guitar ?
When you play the guitar the guitar vibrates. The guitar creates sound by the vibration of the strings. The sound increases in order to be heard and is also accomplished by using a soundboard and resonant cavity, the sound box.

How to play a guitar.
A guitar can be used to be played from heavy metal to classical. Once you strum the guitar and you have all the chords, you have what you need. When you play a song you like it can be very exciting to play it on a guitar. If I can play a guitar you can play it as well.

Conclusion.
The guitar is a very popular instrument. It can be played to re-create the sound of your favourite songs. From reading my post, you should know more. If you want to learn how to tune a guitar click here.

Science Experiment :)

Science experiment:

Question: What will happen to the sound if I cut the straw shorter and blow through it?
Links to research about Sound:

Hypothesis: (What do you think will happen?) e.g. I think that the sound will stay the same because I’ve never tried this experiment before.

Materials needed:
* Straw
* Scissors
* Air to breathe through it
Experiment (procedure):
e.g. Step 1 - Crease straw 2 - 3 cm on one end

Step 2 - Cut creased straw into triangle shape 1.5cm long. Blow air into cut end.

Step 3 - Listen to the sound it makes. Record

Step 4 - Cut the straw shorter.

Step 5 - Blow on cut end. Listen record.

There You Go !

Data (What happened?)
Long 15cm. Makes a sound
10cm. Sound was higher
5cm. Sound was more high pitched

Observations:
My result for the experiment on straw was really creative on sounds and also fun because you can make different sounds as you keep cutting the straw shorter and shorter.

Conclusion:
My hypothesis was wrong because the sound did change while we kept cutting the straw shorter and shorter.

Immersion Assembly Term 2 !

Planning :

Paragraph 1 : First Day Of Term 2
Paragraph 2 : Team 1 Item ( Zoo, Safety Equipment )
Paragraph 3 : Team 2 Item ( Flights, Airplanes, Thrust, Drag, Gravity )
Paragraph 4 : Team 3 Item ( Lights, Colours, Speed Of Light )
Paragraph 5 : Team 4 Item ( FLoating & Sinking, Buoyancy )
Paragraph 6 : Team 5 Item ( Physics : Sound )

Start Here -

Para 1 : Waking up in the early morning so excited and tired, it was Term 2. Getting ready for school and doing my lunch I was not excited for school because my holidays felt short. It came to the time to say GoodBye to my parents. Walking to school hoping my friends would be at school before me.

Para 2 : At assembly we had each Team performing an item of what they are focusing on this term. It was Team 1’s turn, their topic is that they are focusing on is the Zoo and Safety Equipment. They didn’t perform anything but they had a little movie of the Team 1 teachers at the Auckland Zoo and some animals they saw while they were there.

Para 3 : It was now Team 2’s turn. Their topic is about Flights, Airplanes, Thrust, Drag, and Gravity. The item was pretty funny, they performed an item of what they could do if the planes and that die while they need it for important stuff. It was very funny and cool because Mrs She made it alive. HaHa

Para 4 : It was finally Team 3’s item, the topic their focussing on this Term is Lights, Colours and Speed Of Light. The item they performed was how colours travels and how fast colours move to another place to another. Now it was Team 4’s and Team 5’s. Team 4’s topic this term is Sinking, Floating and Buoyancy, their item was a short video about Displace and a little item they performed. It was finally the last Team 5’s turn and their topic is Sounds. They performed a little song and a funny video.

Sound: What Can I Hear ?

Sound: What can I hear?

Team 5’s Inquiry focus this term is about Physics and the Science of ‘Sound’.

This week you are going to write an explanation about the different types of sounds that you can hear in your environment.

Think about the sounds that surround you - at home, at school, outside.

What types of sounds can you hear? Where do they come from? Use the table to help you organise your ideas:

Home
School
Outside
Other
What types of sounds can you hear?
e.g. phone ringing
e.g. people talking
e.g. children laughing
e.g. cars whizzing past
Which sounds do you like listening to? Why?
Kpop because I love Korean music.
Friends talking about fun things because it makes me laugh and make my day better.
Balls bouncing everywhere because it’s really cool to hear at school.
My siblings voices because it makes me quite and my mum and dad doesn’t call my name.
Why sounds are annoying? Why?
Dad and mum calling out my name because they call it at the wrong time.
Teachers growling off students because they shout really loud and it’s annoying.
Students fighting one another because our school should be a family not enemies.
Dogs barking because it really annoys me and it barks when I go to bed.

Finally, think about what your world would be like if you didn’t have sound. What would it be like if you couldn’t hear a single thing, or if you had to live in absolute silence? What do you think it would be like?

My world with no sound will be boring and sad because we can’t listen to other peoples voices and also we can’t listen to something that can make us laugh when we’re feeling down. If we didn’t have sound it wouldn’t help us learn because we need to hear the person that is teaching us new stuff.

I think when my world had to live absolute silence it would be alot different than hearing things. Because we are use to hearings things but when we get deff it would be boring and not a good thing to have. That is what I think my world would be like with absolute silent.

My world with sound is so fun and a blessing that God has provided us to have. Hearing different sounds every now and then but the main thing about hearing stuff is amazing because you hear different sounds at home, school and other places you go. That how I think my life would be like with absolute silent.
